WE have been enjoying an Indian summer in recent days - but dramatic red skies at night too as the summer bows out in a blaze of glory.

After dark, York has looked like it is on fire - as our amazing photos today show.

A big thank you to our Press Camera Club members who have been posting their photos of September sunsets in recent days.

Neil Mackay's beautiful image of a sunset over the River Ouse in York looks like a watercolour.

While Nigel Blackman has captured a September sky at its angriest red.

Clare Tolan Williams showed us what the golden setting sun looks like at Strensall, while Kieran Delaney took photos of sunset at Heworth.

For sheer drama, it is hard to beat the photo of Drax Power station at nigh by Anne Howard Webb, although Anita Barber's flaming red sky at night

comes close.

Thanks to everyone who has posted their September sunset photos in our Facebook group - keep them coming!

And if you love taking photos - particularly of York - then why not join us?

The Press Camera Club brings together amateur photographers to share their work, swap tips and take part in monthly prize competitions.

Membership is open to everyone regardless of their age, experience and equipment. Thanks to the ubiquity of mobile phones nowadays everyone is a photographer.

Each month, we run a competition on a chosen theme. The winners have their photos published in The Press and online with the standout photo each month earning £50 for the photographer.

We also feature Camera Club photos daily in The Press and regularly in photo spreads and news stories.

To join the club, visit yorkpress.co.uk/cameraclub - we’d love to see what York looks like through your lens.
