Through the process of photosynthesis, trees capture carbon and lock it away within themselves.
Unfortunately, 39 applications for felling of trees in York within the past four weeks means that this number will be unable to do that.
A number of regenerated trees along the railway line past Scarborough Bridge are to go, as are some 16 trees in the Rawcliffe area, in addition to the many reported earlier in Homestead Park. Plus of course the usual ‘tree works’ around the city.
On a better note, this week’s applications include proposals for a ‘tree nursery’ in Wigginton.
