From my experience of living in the area I don’t see Navigation Road as a rat-run for cars trying to avoid the Foss Island Road/Walmgate traffic lights (Work to start to close York Navigation Road ‘rat-run’, September 20).
What this idea by the council will do is force residents who live higher up in Navigation Road to have to take on the lights on the Walmgate/ Foss Island Road area when they used to drive from home down the hill and around.
There are also delivery drivers who might enter Navigation Road at the Walmgate junction and expect to leave onto Foss Island Road after deliveries, but instead have to turn around and go back through the lights at Walmgate Bar.
This idea by the council will only create more problems in Walmgate than the restriction will solve.
