A YORK company director faces a bill of nearly £2,000 after he was spotted at the wheel of a Porsche on the A1(M) in Hertfordshire.

Nigel Lindley, 63, was three times the legal alcohol limit and shouldn’t have been driving because he was banned from the roads.

Hertfordshire traffic police arrested him and put him before St Albans Magistrates Court.

Lindley, of The Avenue, Clifton, pleaded guilty to driving whilst disqualified and drink driving.

He was fined £825 for each offence, plus a £165 statutory surcharge and £85 prosecution costs, making a total of £1,900.

He was also disqualified from driving for another 25 months and offered the chance to reduce the disqualification by 25 weeks if he completes a Government approved drink drivers’ rehabilitation course by February 2023.

St Albans Magistrates Court heard that Lindley drove a Porsche Macan VRM on the A1(M) at Welwyn Garden City on August 17.

When he took a breath test, the reading was 107 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

According to Companies House records, Lindley runs his own business and holds other directorships.
