A LAW firm whose recent relocation set a record for York office rents has reported strong growth following the initial impact of the pandemic.

Knights, the UK's fastest growing legal and professional services business, is holding its annual general meeting today when the chairman will report on the business's 'strong momentum' and 'good start' to trading in the new financial year.

The legal and professional services business became the first commercial tenant to move into the recently completed development, Hudson Quarter, opposite York Railway Station in a move which was part of the firm's growth ambitions.

The deal was £25 per sq ft for the 4,700 sq ft open-plan space that can accommodate up to 48 people.

The Group’s chairman, Bal Johal, said, in a statement to the AGM: "The last financial year saw Knights deliver another year of strong cash generative, profitable growth demonstrating the resilience of our business model and our people.

"Following the initial impact of the pandemic in the first half of the year, the Group returned to strong organic growth in the second half of the year which complemented the contribution made from recent acquisitions.

"The Board is pleased to report that the Group’s strong momentum from the second half of FY21 has continued into the new financial year with a good start to trading in FY22 in line with the Boards expectations.

"The Group confirm that it will provide an update on trading for the half year to October 31, 2021 in November 2021, ahead of reporting its half year results in January 2022."

Knights was ranked number one for revenue growth over the last four years in the Lawyer's Top 100 Survey, published in October 2020.

Knights has specialists in all key areas of corporate and commercial law so that it can offer end-to-end support to businesses of all sizes and in all sectors. It is focussed on key UK markets outside London and currently operates from 16 offices located in York, Birmingham, Cheltenham, Chester, Crawley, Exeter, Leeds, Leicester, Maidstone, Manchester, Nottingham, Oxford, Sheffield, Stoke, Weybridge and Wilmslow.

“Our new office space at Hudson Quarter provides Knights with a great runway for growth in the region, as we continue to make positive steps to build the leading, premium legal and professional services business. Hudson Quarter really is exceptional, and we are excited to welcome colleagues and clients to the building in the near future.”
