UPDATED 2.10PM: Firefighters have now left the scene - the fire was confined to the cooking range.
FIREFIGHTERS are dealing with a fire at a pub in York city centre.
Station manager Tony Walker from North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said that crews from York, Huntington and Acomb are currently dealing with a fire at a public house in the city centre.
Crews were called out to the Hole in the Wall pub in High Petergate close to York Minster and Bootham Bar.
They have put the fire out but remain on scene checking to see if the fire has spread.
A spokesman for North Yorkshrie Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews responded to a fire in a commercial property.
"The fire started in the kitchen on the first floor. The cause of the fire is believed to be overheated cooking oil.
"The fire was contained to fryer and extinguished by crews. One male employee had a slight burn to his hand when using a fire blanket. Crews extinguished the fire using a hose reel and breathing apparatus."
