YORK has been ranked in the top 10 most expensive cities for students to rent, according to a recent study.
As freshers week kicks off at universities across the country, a study by Zoopla has revealed the 10 most expensive cities for students to rent, with York coming in as the 8th highest at £886 per month.
London is ranked as the most expensive city for students to rent in, with an average cost of £1,549 per month. Oxford is ranked as the second most expensive with an average cost of £1,379.
In third place is Brighton, where University of Sussex students can expect to pay £1,369 a month for a rental home.
Cambridge and Bristol take fourth and fifth spot on the list, with average rents of £1,241 and £1,074 respectively.
The study also found that Hull is the cheapest city to rent for on average £495 a month.
