A NEW and bigger vintage fashion room has opened in the centre of York.

Independent retailer, The Antiques Centre York, has opened the shop in its Stonegate Centre, providing more space for its community of small independent fashion dealers.

The new room, named ‘ACY Vintage’, is on the first floor of the centre, increasing its capacity by more than 50 per cent.

Jasmine Ballantyne, customer experience manager at the centre, said: “Vintage fashion has always been popular here with a wide mix of customers. With a growing demand for unique, independent and stand-out clothing, it was a pleasure to be involved in expanding our vintage horizons.

“The new room is beautiful and really sets off our dealers’ new ranges. ACY Vintage sells items to suit all sizes and styles, helping us fashionably contribute to the sustainable clothing movement. We also have a great collection of vintage jewellery and accessories in the room too.

“Our goal is to offer high-end vintage fashion like you find in London’s vintage fashion shops, only with northern prices!

“We were able to rent all of the units to existing and new dealers despite the winter lockdown; their commitment to us and the new room was terrific encouragement for us."

Jasmine added that she was hoping the new vintage room would catch the current mood.

She said: "There’s a growing mood out there that good times are coming, we are excited and proud to be ready for them.”

The Antiques Centre York is a family-owned antiques, jewellery and collectables centre at 41 Stonegate.

It is home to a community of more than 100 independent dealers, each with their own speciality, and features regularly on Bargain Hunt and Antiques Road Trip. It also has an online centre. For more information, go to: www.theantiquescentreyork.co.uk
