A YORK MP travelled to the Askham Bar vaccination site to receive her Covid jab last week - and said that she"didn't really feel a thing".

York Central MP, Rachael Maskell, is one of the thousands of people in York who have taken up their invite to be vaccinated in the battle against the virus.

When at the York site, Rachael thanked volunteers and staff who have all been part of the vaccine effort in the city and who shared their experiences of delivering the vaccine programme for the city.

After receiving the jab, the MP said: “I strongly recommend anyone who is eligible to have their vaccine to make an appointment.

"The whole process was very safe and fairly quick and for anyone who is vaccine hesitant or fearful of needles - I have to say that you really don’t feel a thing.

"Clinical staff are there to answer your concerns, so make sure you book in when you are called.

"There are many things we can learn from the delivery of health care at scale and I look forward to future discussions about how we can roll out other health initiatives in a similar way.

"Health is not just about individuals but about the whole community, and Askham Bar most definitely has brought the whole community of York together"

The York MP visited the site earlier in the year to meet the team and the volunteers who have been running the operation and was "pleased" to be visiting again - but this time as a member of the community.
