POLICE are hunting a burglar who struck at a home in a York suburb.
North Yorkshire Police say the burglary happened in Burton Avenue in Clifton at about 4am on Tuesday (May 11) when an offender smashed a window to the victim’s home and stole a wallet which was placed near to the window. Attempts were also made to gain access to the property.
A police spokesman said: "We are requesting the public’s assistance to help establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
"In particular, we are appealing for witnesses who may have seen anybody in the area around this time, acting suspiciously. We are also asking local residents to check around the outside of their properties in case the wallet or some of its contents have been disposed of nearby.
