DRIVERS are being warned to expect possibly seven weeks of disruption as a main road shuts through a York suburb.

Anyone who uses the Bootham end of Burton Stone Lane in Clifton is being warned about a closure starting on Monday (May 17).

The road could be closed for about seven weeks for footpath resurfacing - no vehicles or waiting on Burton Stone Lane between its junctions with Clifton and Grosvenor Road Signs have now gone up in the area warning drivers to find alternate routes throughout the period of the work.

Meanwhile work also starts on Monday in Shipton Road between 9am and 4.30pm, seven days a week while the council upgrades traffic lights at the junction at Shipton Road (A19) and Rawcliffe Bar Park&Ride.

Drivers have been warned to expect delays as diversions and temporary traffic lights will be installed while the upgrades take place.

The right turn into the Park&Ride from Shipton Road will be shut while works take place, as will the left turn out of the Park&Ride on to Shipton Road.
