A PERSISTENT offender who carried out a series of attacks on police officers and other crimes has been made subject to a criminal behaviour order.

Damien Peter Goudy, 36, admitted 19 offences mostly committed in the city centre, York Magistrates Court heard.

As well as obeying the criminal behaviour order and carrying out a community order, he has to pay a total of £400 in compensation to police officers, a member of the public and British Telecom.

Goudy, of Thoresby Road, Acomb, pleaded guilty to six charges of assaulting emergency workers, all of whom were police officers, three public order offences, two charges of carrying a knife in public, two of failure to obey police orders to leave areas in the city centre, one of resisting police, one of criminal damage, one of stalking a woman, one of possessing cannabis and two of failure to attend court.

Apart from the criminal damage, all the offences were committed in York.

District judge Adrian Lower heard about Goudy's personal issues and gave him an 18-month community order with 200 hours’ unpaid work.

He also made him subject to an indefinite criminal behaviour order banning him from having an open container of alcohol within the York Outer Ring Road.

Goudy must pay £50 compensation each to all the police officers he assaulted and to another man.

He must also pay £50 compensation to British Telecom for vandalising a phone box in Helmsley.

Goudy’s list of crimes began when he stalked a woman between June 2019 and December 2019.

He was made subject to an indefinite restraining order banning him from contacting her and his movements in part of the city centre were restricted.

JHe assaulted police officers between January 11, 2020, and February 2, 2021, in Coney Street, Bridge Street, and elsewhere in York and he resisted a police officer on Davygate on July 4, 2020.

It took more than two years to bring him to justice because earlier cases against him had to be continually adjourned when he was charged with new offences.
