CONGRATULATIONS to Camera Club member Lynnette Cammidge who had her camera at hand to snap one of the two F-15s flying over York yesterday morning.

According to the Government's website, the north of England is one of three Tactical Training Areas (TTA) used for operational low flying training by fast jets and Hercules transport aircraft.

Spring is an ideal time of year for these operations.

It states: "Operational low flying is an essential skill and is practised by fixed wing aircraft between 100 feet and 250 feet; a more representative altitude at which pilots would fly in a combat scenario. The final decision to use a TTA is taken on the day itself as this kind of training can only take place when weather conditions allow.

"Late spring and summer are the busiest times for low flying as squadrons make full use of good weather to carry out their training."

The Press Camera Club brings together amateur photographers to share their work, swap tips and take part in monthly prize competitions.

Membership is open to everyone regardless of their age, experience and equipment. Thanks to the ubiquity of mobile phones nowadays everyone is a photographer!
