ROADWORKS will take place for five weeks at a major route into York.

The council plans to upgrade traffic lights at the junction at Shipton Road (A19) and Rawcliffe Bar Park&Ride.

Work starts on Monday May 10, between 9am and 4.30pm seven days a week. Work is also planned some evenings, but residents will be told in advance when this is scheduled.

Drivers have been warned to expect delays as diversions and temporary traffic lights will be installed while the upgrades take place.

The right turn into the Park&Ride from Shipton Road will be shut while works take place, as will the left turn out of the Park&Ride on to Shipton Road.

Diversion routes for cyclists and pedestrians will be signposted and bus services are not likely to be affected.

Access to homes and businesses will remain open throughout the work.

There will be parking restrictions in Old Shipton Road between June 7 and 11 to allow for work to take place to upgrade the cyclist and pedestrian links at the junction.
