POLICE are appealing for witnesses and information about an assault that occurred in the car park of a supermarket in York.

The incident happened at around 2.35pm on Saturday April 17 at the Morrisons store in Layerthorpe - and involved a man assaulting another man by kicking him.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: "We are requesting the public’s assistance to help establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and identify the suspect.

"He is described as mid to late 30s, tall and slim, white with a southern accent. He had a number of moles on his face, and short dark hair with a receding hair line. At the time of the assault he was wearing a grey hoodie without zips and blue/grey jeans that were bootleg style.

"He got out of a silver four-door Ford Focus that had alloy wheels. After the assault he got back in the vehicle and drove off."
