YORK'S weekly recorded Covid-19 rate has dropped back below the 20 mark - and just four more cases have been recorded in the area.

The latest data from Public Health England (PHE) shows thata the city's rate has dropped by two to 19.9 cases per 100,000 population. This stands below the UK national average rate, which is currently 22.3 cases per 100,000 population.

The PHE data shows that the four further cases recorded in the City of York Council area take the total for the pandemic there to 12,290.

In North Yorkshire the rate has dropped by just 0.4 to 26.5 cases per 100,000 population. A further 17 cases have been recorded in the North Yorkshire County Council area, taking the total for the pandemic to 29,972.

In the East Riding of Yorkshire the rate has dropped by one to 28.7 cases per 100,000 population, with a further seven cases recorded in the area.

Across the UK, a further 2,144 cases take the country's total for the pandemic to 4,425,940.
