POLICE have arrested a 16-year-old after a robbery in York that left a teenager with head injuries.

The incident happened in a field near Millennium Bridge at around on Saturday (May 1)

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: "Two teenage victims were approached by a youth. One was assaulted, causing deep lacerations to his face, and the second had his phone stolen.

"The injured teenager was taken to hospital for treatment.

"A boy was arrested on suspicion of assault, wounding with intent and robbery. He has been released on bail pending further investigation."

Police are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident but has yet to come forward.
