A NEW team of hospitality staff is being recruited at a brand new 40-bedroom luxury hotel which is opening this month.

Vacancies are available in reception, house keeping and porter/ concierge roles at Sandburn Hall Hotel which is thought to be the first significant hotel to be built between York and the coast for more than 20 years.

The development follows an investment of more than £6 million on the 1,000-acre, family-owned estate of one of North Yorkshire’s leading golf resorts, just east of York.

The jobs boost comes after a difficult year for hospitality, which has seen venues locked down for prolonged periods or operating under tight restrictions.

Various shifts as well as full and part-time positions are on offer at the hotel which aims to welcome guests just seven days after a further lifting of the UK’s lockdown restrictions is expected.

Hotel manager Mike Sweeting said the new hotel was on schedule to open on May 24, in line with the government road map, and is taking bookings via its website.

He is confident the luxury venue will have wide-spread appeal, alongside the lodges on the estate which have proved popular among people looking to have their own space. "We are on the outskirts of a great city; overseas travel will probably come back next year and the staycation concept will live on."

Mike said he was keen to lend support to hospitality workers who have had a difficult time during the pandemic.

“There are still a few more jobs left to fill but they are going fast. There are still a few vacancies for reception, nights and housekeeping. We do have other jobs available at Sandburn Hall so please contact me for further information.

“ I am looking for bubbly, friendly, customer-focused people who like working in a busy atmosphere. I am looking for anyone who has the will to try something new and learn new skills to help create extraordinary experience for our guests.

“It’s exciting to be able to create something new whilst help establish the brand at Sandburn Hall while creating the hotel style and feel as we go on the journey.

“If you have had confidence dashed or are anxious about a return to work, I want to be able to help you with this. It is an opportunity to work in a beautiful stylish hotel, learn new skills, develop your learning plan if this is what you are looking for. Sandburn Hall is an independent family-owned business, where team members are encouraged to train and grow with us. Whether you are working full time or part time, your opinion on how we run the operations and suggestions to improve the customer experience are listened to and count."
