FORTY properties in a village near York have been hit by a power cut since this morning.
Northern Powergrid said electricity supplies were lost in the Crockey Hill area, to the south-east of the city.
It said its staff were working hard to restore supplies as quickly as possible, and originally estimated they would achieve this by about 1pm.
However, the company subsequently updated this forecast and said supplies might not be restored until 6pm, and this has now been updated again to 8.30pm.
