‘Do not go gentle into that good night’ wrote our sports reporter Joe Richardson after the lights of Bootham
Crescent were turned off for the last time
Along with many other supporters of York City FC and York City Knights I was upset when the excellent Dave Flett and Peter Martini left The Press and were therefore no longer providing match reports.
However I don’t think they, or even the late Malcolm Huntington, could have done a better job of describing Bootham Crescent’s floodlights going out for the last time and the feelings this evoked than Joe Richardson in Thursday’s Press (Farewell to a friend, April 29).
