THREE burglars brandishing weapons have demanded valuables and assaulted a man at a property in East Yorkshire.

Humberside Police said the incident happened in Byron Street, Goole, on Sunday evening, when the men were believed to have gained entry to the garden at the rear, brandishing weapons.

It said the victims were taken into the property by two of the unknown men who were reported to have demanded valuables, whilst the third unknown man remained outside and looked through their shed.

"Whilst inside the property damage was caused and the man was assaulted leaving him requiring medical treatment," said a spokesperson.

"Thankfully his injuries aren’t serious but the man and woman have been left shaken by the incident.

"We want to offer reassurance to the residents that we believe this to be an isolated incident with no wider threat to the public.

"We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident,or seen these men or anything suspicious around this time to please come forward to assist our investigation."
