THE weekly recorded Covid-19 rates in York and both North and East Yorshire have all dropped, the latest figures confirm.

The data from Public Health England shows that York's weekly rate has dropped by one to 21.8 cases per 100,000 population. This remains below the UK national average rate, which stands at 24.8 cases per 100,000 population.

The PHE data shows that just seven more cases of the virus have been recorded in the City of York Council area, taking the total for the pandemic to 12,261.

In North Yorkshire the rate has also dropped by one to 31.4 cases per 100,000 population. A further 27 cases have been recorded in the North Yorkshire County Council area, taking the total for the pandemic to 29,842.

In the East Riding of Yorkshire the rate has dropped by two to 32.2 cases per 100,000 population, with a further 26 cases recorded in the area taking the total for the pandemic to 18,239.

Across England, a further 2,685 cases take the country's total for the pandemic to 4,409,631.
