A RECRUITMENT drive is taking place at Timpsons as shoppers return to the high street.

James Timpson made a social media call for applications, adding that any job hunters with a criminal conviction should not hold off from applying.

Timpson has four branches in the York area as well as one over in Selby.

The director, who once sat on the Chair of the Employers Forum for Reducing Re-offending (EFFRR), is strong believer in offering people a second chance despite their past.

Training is provided by the group - from shoe repairs, key cutting, watch and mobile phone repairs and engraving to dry cleaning and photo IDs.

Describing the highstreet reopening as "good news" on Twitter, Mr Timpson said the ideal candidate needs "an amazing personality".

"We will consider anyone and everyone for a role within our business, regardless of their background or history," the website reads.

Job seekers can use Twitter to message Darren Burns, national recruitment manager for the Timpson group, who uses @darrenburns60 or visit www.timpson.co.uk/about/careers-at-timpson
