HOTEL staff in York have been deluged with quirky requests from guests booking trips to the city hoping to experience 'a Bridgerton minication'.

Fans of the popular Netflix series, Bridgerton, have asked the customer service team and hotel teams at Travelodge in York to arrange for them to meet the cast during their stay, 'speak like a Bridgerton', and to arrange for them to attend a ball.

Travelodge staff have received a flurry of interest from people across the country, looking and booking hotels in York as it is a key Bridgerton filming location that epitomises Regency era charm.

With the filming of season two underway, the hotel chain, which has six properties in York, says the series is helping to boost tourism in the city from fans inspired by the decadent Georgian architecture, regal stately homes, classic English castles and the lush British countryside who now want to explore York.

Bridgerton fans' requests include:

• Can you get me a part in Bridgerton season 2 whilst we are staying in York?

• Can I have a copy of Lady Whistledown’s Society Papers delivered to my room during our stay?

• Can you arrange for a horse drawn carriage to pick us up from the hotel and take us around London like a Bridgerton?

• Can you arrange for me to meet the cast of Bridgerton during my stay?

• Can you teach me to speak like a Bridgerton?

• How do I promenade?

• Can you arrange for me to attend a ball during my stay?

Shakila Ahmed, Travelodge spokeswoman said: “Bridgerton has not only kept us entertained during a very bleak winter lockdown but it has also provided a major source of travel inspiration by creating a desire for us to explore the beauty and charm of York.

"We are seeing Britons from all corners of the UK are taking a leaf out of Lady Whistledown’s book and are looking and booking ahead to the social season. We have seen a significant rise in searches and bookings in York where Bridgerton is filmed.”
