A FAMILY escaped from a fire at a house in the early hours this morning.
North Yorkshire Fire And Rescue say they were called out at 1.47am to a blaze at a house in Whitley near Selby.
The fire is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault with a charger for an e-scooter.
A teenager was treated for slight burns to their foot and one adult was treated for smoke inhalation by paramedics at the scene.
Station manager Tony Walker said: "Crews from Selby and West Yorkshire attended a house fire during the early hours in Whitley.
"There was significant damage caused to a bedroom.
"A smoke alarm alerted the family who escaped.
"One youth suffering smoke inhalation and minor burns.
"The cause is believed to be a faulty Ac charger for an Escooter."
