THE former Woolpack Inn in York is set to go under the hammer next month with a £350,000 guide price.
The historic Grade II building on Fawcett Street, Fishergate, once housed live music nights with reggae and ska beats as a much loved hang out for locals.
It was originally designed as a home in the early 19th century and only became a pub in the 20th century.
Now an empty shell, the future of the former tavern remains unclear.
Buyers would have planning consent for a thriving holiday let, submitted in 2019 by developers Loppas Ltd who told of the potential for "economic benefits... without resulting in the unacceptable loss of an asset of community value."
York estate agents Stephensons said buyers could create six Bedrooms and five bathrooms, describing it as a "superb investment opportunity".
There is also a large reception room where you can find the bar and the tinted blue glass fixture reading 'The Woolpack Inn'.
On Rightmove, the listing reads: "The property requires a programme of modernisation and remodelling however offers superb potential to create a successful holiday let within a prime location within the city centre."
The property will appear at auction at 5pm on Tuesday, May 18, at the York Auction Centre in Murton.
