POLICE have put out an appeal after a man died after an ambulance was involved in a crash.
As The Press reported last week the A1079 Hull Road was closed both ways at Wilberfoss for most of the night on Thursday (April 22) after a collision between an ambulance and an HGV between Sutton Lane and Sand Lane close to the Steer Inn.
A spokesperson for Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust said on Friday: “We can confirm that an emergency ambulance was involved in a road traffic collision at 3.30pm yesterday (April 22) on the A1079, Hull Road between Wilberfoss and Barmby Moor.
“First and foremost our thoughts are with the family of the man who sadly passed away at the scene.
“We are working with the police to help with their investigation into the cause of the collision.”
They were unable to confirm whether the man who died was a member of the public or one of the ambulance crew or was in the HGV.
Humberside Police say that two other people, a man and woman, were taken to hospital to receive treatment for their injuries and the man remains in a serious condition.
A spokesman said: "Our specialist teams are investigating the circumstances of the collision and are appealing for anyone with information or dashcam footage which could assist us to come forward.
"If you can help, please call our non-emergency 101 line, quoting log number 289 of April 22."
