YORK'S weekly recorded Covid rate has increased slightly over the last 24 hours - as five more cases have been recorded in the area.

The latest Public Health England (PHE) data shows that the city's rate has increased by 0.5 to 18 cases per 100,000 population. This remains below the UK national average rate, which stands at 24.7 cases per 100,000 population.

The PHE data shows that the further five cases recorded in the City of York Council area take the total for the pandemic there to 12,241.

In North Yorkshire, the rate has increased by four to 27.7 cases per 100,000 population. A further 17 cases have been recorded in the North Yorkshire County Council area, taking the total for the pandemic to 26,759.

In the East Riding of Yorkshire, the rate has dropped very slightly by 0.2 to 36.1 cases per 100,000 population, with a further 10 cases recorded in the area.

Across the UK, a further 1,712 take the country's total for the pandemic to 4,404,882.
