SCOTT the butcher's was one of the city's most popular shops - and also a draw for tourists.
It was an institution in its own right - and dated back to 1878.
Its iconic position on Petergate and its bright red exterior made it an must-have photo opportunity for tourists.
But it was the locals who kept it going over the years, insisting it was the best butcher's in town.
Back in the late 19th century, Scott's was one of scores of butcher's across the city. By 2008, when it closed its doors, it was one of the last within the city walls.
It was the place to go for tasty pies and sausages - and was home to the famous York ham.
When it closed many regulars were heartbroken - and many still miss it today.
