A MAN was punched in the face by an attacker who leapt out of a passing car.

North Yorkshire Police say the attack happened in Prospect Road in Scarborough at about 6.30pm on March 22, when the passenger of a midnight-grey Vauxhall Corsa got out of the car and assaulted a man walking past Prospect Road and onto Columbus Ravine.

The victim was punched in the face, which caused bruising to his right cheek.

The suspect was a 6ft tall man, with a large, muscular build. He had strawberry-blonde hair styled in a medium-length perm and had a bushy beard of the same colour.

A police spokesman said: "We are requesting the public’s assistance to help establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
