I took a trip into York city centre on Sunday afternoon. Gorgeous day. Sun shining. Families of all ages having fun. Food and drink vendors doing a roaring trade.

Nobody had a care in the world. Or so it seemed. I would hazard a guess at 1 per cent of the people following Covid rules. I was one of the very few wearing a mask.

We all know Covid rates will rise with the easing of lockdown. However, the scale of the rise will be down to us all.

So if/when Boris cancels foreign holidays this year and if/when we go back into lockdown who will you blame?

How great to see life getting back to normal

My wife and I had a wonderful day on Sunday at Bridlington with my eldest son’s family who drove up from Nottingham with their two dogs, one six months old who we hadn’t met, and had a long walk on the sands before fish and chips in the town centre.

On a beautiful sunny day, out in the fresh air, I only saw two masks being worn amongst the crowds. Very nearly back to normal.

Nobody was talking about Covid, just as flu is never a topic of conversation. The good old British public always know better than their political leaders.
