THE roof at a sawmill was damaged in a fire.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service says the incident happened at Duncombe Sawmill Ltd on Sawmill Lane, in Helmsley at around 4.38pm yesterday (Thursday).
A spokesperson said: “Crews from Pickering and Helmsley attended a fire to a workshop roof.
“2m of the roof was damaged by fire, crews removed 6m of roof to ensure there was no fire spread. One hose reel jet, thermal imaging camera, 9m ladder, roof ladder and hand tools used.
“The cause is believed to be sparks from an open fire.”
