A SHED and a kitchen extension in York were damaged by fire early today.

North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service said the blaze broke out in a shed used to store hay at 1.18am in Falsgrave Crescent, off Burton Stone Lane.

"The fire also spread to the property next door causing damage to a kitchen extension," it said.

"The cause is believed to be natural combustion of wet hay."

It said a crew from Acomb and another from York used two hose reels, triple extension ladders, ceiling hooks, lighting and thermal imaging camera to tackle the fire, and crews will carry out a revisit later today.
