I LIKE many people find myself in an unenviable situation.

I booked to go to Spain on holiday in June 2020 and with the coronavirus emergency and restrictions, the holiday was re-arranged for June 2021.

Now with the rearranged holiday date soon approaching I find myself with the option of cancelling the holiday or the uncertainties of travelling.

What is putting me off? Reluctance to mix with strangers in a confined area (the airport and plane) and mixing with strangers in a strange country, plus the uncertainty of return travel and being quarantined on returning plus the extra cost of the Covid testing at £100 plus.

The anticipation and looking forward to a holiday was always a big part of a going abroad; now the thought of a foreign holiday fills me with dread.

The holiday isn't what we signed up for and is now a liability we could well do without.
