YORK'S weekly recorded Covid-19 case rate has dropped to 15 - and just six more cases have been recorded in the area.

The latest Public Health England (PHE) data shows that the city's rate has dropped by three to 15.7 cases per 100,000 population. This is well below the UK national average rate, which stands at 37.3 cases per 100,000 population.

The PHE data shows that six more cases have been recorded in the City of York Council area, taking the total for the pandemic to 12,225.

In North Yorkshire the rate has dropped by two to 28.6 cases per 100,000 population. A further 26 cases have been recorded in the North Yorkshire County Council area, taking the total for the pandemic to 29,429.

In the East Riding of Yorkshire the rate has now changed as it remains at 35.5 cases per 100,000 population. A further 23 cases have been recorded in the East Riding area, taking the total for the pandemic to 17,915.

Across the UK, a further 3,030 cases take the country's total for the pandemic to 4,370,321.
