AS the zoo at Sewerby Hall and Gardens prepares to reopen on Monday, the team have announced even more new arrivals for visitors to see.

The zoo has welcomed three new llamas - Lisa Marie, the nine-month old llama from Cannon Hall Farm in Barnsley has been joined by two more llamas. Named after Elvis Presley’s parents, Gladys is 10 years old and Vernon is seven months old.

Head zookeeper at Sewerby, John Pickering, said: “We can’t wait to welcome visitors back to the zoo here at Sewerby Hall and Gardens, and I am certain that the animals have missed people, too.

“We are hoping to restart a breeding programme for the llamas here, which was something we used to do, and it will be very exciting to start it up again.”

All three of the new arrivals join Willow, the llama who celebrated her 24th birthday last week at the zoo.
