Here are some of the tributes written about Dave:

Jon Robinson: "Dave, a true gent and friend who will be sadly missed but leaves us with great memories. The football banter, drinking body weight in tea through shifts, bingo, fish and chip Sat. The list goes on. Condolences to the family. Up The Toffees."

Alan Fletcher: "Words are not enough to describe Dave, a clever likeable person who never had a bad word to say about anyone. His passion for Everton was only surpassed by his love for his family. It was my privilege to know Dave, and I know the world will be a sadder place without him. Sleep tightly young man."

Elizabeth Topi: "So very sorry for your loss, and great credit for reminding people to follow rules and take up the vaccine at a time when you are hurting so deeply. God bless your family."

Laura Smith: "Thinking of Jane and all the family, Dave was such a lovely man, he will be missed, Rip Dave."

Dave Deacon: "My heart goes out to you Jane. Dave was a good man and it was always a joy to see you guys at bingo. He will truly be missed."

York Press: Uncle Dave with Liv as a babyUncle Dave with Liv as a baby

Sister-in-law Fiona Brown remembers Dave as a brilliant uncle: "He taught Liv and MJ to swim and during that break in lockdown when we met up at the caravan park he managed to cajole MJ out of his teenage strop and to put shorts on. Dave spent the day in the sea with the kids while Jane and I gossiped on the shore and ate all the sandwiches. It is hard to put into words just how much he meant to us all and always will. Our lives will never be the same again. He was an amazing man, a fabulous uncle and our three (Liv especially as she used to go and stay with Jane and Dave and loved the fact that he was her Godfather) are devastated that he is no longer here. Dave always made time for children of family and friends and they loved him for it."

Your tribute to Dave PowellDave, I still can't believe he has gone, that he won't be there at the family meals or the fall guy for Jane's jokes. He taught Liv and MJ to swim and during that break in lockdown when we met up at the caravan park he managed to cajole MJ out of his teenage strop and to put shorts on. Dave spent the day in the sea with the kids whilst Jane and I gossiped on the shore and ate all the sandwiches. It is hard to put into words just how much he meant to us all and always will. We will do that quiz you wrote Dave but because of Covid never got to deliver, in your memory and we promise not to cheat!
