POLICE have revealed their latest piece of kit in the fight against speeding - a Ducati motorbike.

The bike, which has been lent to the North Yorkshire Police Roads Policing Group by BikeSafe, was on patrol in the Dales today on a bank holiday weekend police say is likely to be a 'perfect storm' for road crashes.

"This weekend and beyond, our roads policing teams will have a high-profile presence in villages, main roads and rural routes to keep everyone safe," a police spokesperson said. "Please take it steady and enjoy the long weekend."

With biker season starting the police say now is a good time to sign up for BikeSafe training.

"BikeSafe workshops in North Yorkshire are always popular and they're a great way to become an even more skilful rider," a spokesperson said.

"We managed to increase the number of courses by 25 per cent this year and we're about to add even more."

Demand for BikeSafe courses is very high, police say - but there are still some places available for late summer. To book, visit bikesafe.co.uk/northyorkshire/

If you can't book the session you want, log your details on the waiting list and police will contact you when spaces become available.
