The centre page spread of Boyes store (The Press, March 29) reminds me of my earlier days as a travelling salesman doing a lot of mileage and also collecting many full books of Green Shield stamps, courtesy of ‘triple’ or ‘quadruple’ offers given by petrol stations.
I’m sure that just along from Boyes on the waterfront was a Green Shield gift redemption shop. Paul Boyes lived in our village and I enjoyed many a pint and chat with him.
