POLICE have arrested a suspect and recovered a number of cycles stolen from a secure compound in York.

The theft happened at 8.20pm on February 6 at Bootham Green off Newborough Street in the city, and involved suspects wearing dark clothing taking bikes from the compound.

One suspect was located nearby on a Scott mountain bike and arrested. He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

All of the bikes have been recovered and are in the process of being returned to their owners, with the exception of the Scott mountain bike. Officers would like to locate the owner of this bike.
