ALMOST two weeks have now passed since the last death related to Covid-19 was recorded at hospitals in the York Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The latest data from NHS England shows that the total number of deaths related to the virus in the York trust remains at 583.

The last Covid death was recorded in the trust, which includes York Hospital and Scarborough, on March 19 - 13 days ago.

There have been nine more Covid deaths in the North East and Yorkshire region.

Across England, a further 43 people, who tested positive for the coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 86,308.

Patients were aged between 30 and 96 years old. All except one, aged 79 years old, had known underlying health conditions.

Date of death ranges from January 22 to March 31, with the majority being on or after March 29.

Their families have been informed.
