A YOUNG boy from North Yorkshire has been selling flowers in the run up to Easter to support a charity.

Jenson King, aged six, has been selling daffodils to people around the area of Catteron, near Tadcaster, to raise money for Marie Curie.

His mum, Virginia King, works as a florist so has supplied the daffodils. “The idea started out as Jenson wanted to do something to help people. We came up with the idea as the Marie Curie logo is a daffodil,” Virginia said.

The youngster and his family set a target of raising £200 for Marie Curie. However, they have now smashed this raising almost £500.

“We are so proud of him, he has such a great character and has delivered the flowers himself.”

Jenson and his mum are making the deliveries to customers' door steps. Marie Curie has given him a special hat which he wears and leaves on the doorsteps of customers for them to place their money in so he can stand at a distance.

Orders for Jenson’s daffodils have been placed through his mum’s Facebook page, which they have also used to promote the idea.
