POLICE say they have broken up several groups of more than six people in York today - and have urged people not to leave litter behind.
North Yorkshire Police tweeted that patrols had been conducted patrols around the Millennium Bridge and Rowntree Park.
"A few groups broken up after having more than 6 people,"they tweeted. "Please take your rubbish home with you."
They added that the Friends of Rowntree Park and City of York Council didn't want to have to clean up the mess again.
The move came after scenes emerged on social media of rubbish left behind near the bridge after people gathered in the sunshine yesterday.
