City of York Council were a little bit premature with their ‘April Fool’ announcement that recycling could move from fortnightly to monthly.
Just recently, as the removal of the popular plastic and tin recycling bins from the St John’s Street car park highlights, it has been difficult for households to easily find suitable places to deposit their recyclable items without resorting to the often-criticised Hazel Court recycling centre.
If recycling containers get full. many people will simply return to mixing all the household waste in the black bins. This would be a retrograde step and a return to the bad old days of no recycling.
