POLICE have arrested a second man in connection with a stabbing in York.

The 32-year-old man was arrested in York this morning and is in police custody for questioning over the incident, which happened on Saturday evening in the Apollo Street area, off Heslington Road.

The victim, a 33-year-old York man, was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries, where he was subsequently in a stable condition.

North Yorkshire Police said a 25-year-old man who was arrested early yesterday had been released on conditional police bail.

A spokesperson said the investigation continued, and anyone with information including doorbell or private CCTV, or dash-cam footage was being urged to get in touch with York CID or Crimestoppers.

The force has said police received a call just after 10.20pm after the victim entered a takeaway on Heslington Road asking for help.

It said officers recognised the incident would have caused alarm in the local area but believed it did not pose a risk to the wider community.
