ONLY one care home in York currently has a Covid case - and there hasn't been an 'outbreak' in a care home, involving two or more cases, since February 25.
The encouraging figures are revealed in City of York Council's latest Covid data tracker report, which also includes news that:
*Sixteen children at 11 schools across York have tested positive for coronavirus in the week to last Monday.
*Two council wards - Huntington & New Earswick and Fishergate - saw a statistically significant fall in their Covid rate in the week to March 19, while all other wards had no significant change. Ward rates varied from 0 to 108.3 per 100,000, and six wards had zero cases in the period.
*Seven University of York individuals and one at York St John University were self-isolating after testing positive.
*87,887 residents in the council area had had their first dose of the vaccine by Wednesday - 50.5 per cent of the city's estimated adult population - with 7,441 having had both doses.
Meanwhile, a Public Health England Exceedance rating, comparing the number of new cases over a 14 day period with the previous six weeks and providing a 'RAG rating' to indicate if the trend is worsening, has given an 'amber' rating for York, having previously been 'green.'
