YORK'S weekly recorded Covid-19 rate has increased slightly - as 16 more cases have been recorded in the area.

The latest data from Public Health England (PHE) shows that the city's rate has increased by one to 30.9 cases per 100,000 population. This remains below the UK national average case rate - which stands at 57.7 cases per 100,000 population.

The PHE data shows that 16 more cases of the virus have been recorded in the City of York Council area, taking the total for the pandemic to 12,176.

In North Yorkshire, the weekly rate has increased by three to 46.9 cases per 100,000 population. A further 50 cases have been recorded in the North Yorkshire County Council area, taking the total for the pandemic up to 29,132.

In the East Riding of Yorkshire the rate has dropped by two to 75.3 cases per 100,000 population. A further 40 cases have been recorded in the area, taking the total for the pandemic to 17,685.

Across the UK, a further 6,187 cases of the virus have been recorded, taking the country's total for the pandemic to 4,325,315.
