A CAMERA retailer which had a shop in York city centre until December has filed a notice to appoint administrators.
Jessops, owned by Dragons’ Den investor Peter Jones, has been affected by lockdown restrictions.
The company, which was bought by Mr Jones in 2013, currently employs 120 staff and runs 17 stores.
It has hired insolvency specialists FRP and said it is now considering a Company’s Voluntary Arrangement (CVA) restructuring process in a bid to protect its long-term future.
Jessops had only moved into its premises in Coney Street in 2017 but it closed before Christmas. Its other branch at Monks Cross had already closed, so that the nearest store was now in Leeds.
The shop's disappearance is another blow for York's premier retail street, where there are already almost a dozen empty premises.
