DATA showing that the number of Covid patients being treated at York NHS trust hospitals has soared by more than a third is incorrect, say trust bosses.

York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust said on its website this morning that it currently had 48 confirmed and suspected Covid-19 inpatients Trust-wide, significantly up from 30 at the start of the week.

But a trust spokeswoman said the figure was incorrect and had been removed from the website until today’s correct figure was available later today.

She said the data on the website had been reverted to yesterday’s figure of 35, which the trust knew to be correct.

Patient numbers have been falling fairly steadily at the trust until they appeared to plateau at the end of last week and then began to rise again earlier this week.

The trust said it currently had six Covid patients in intensive care, and a total of 2,088 had been discharged since the start of the pandemic.
