Anything unusual about the birth?Me and my partner Sammy both had Covid over the New Year and Sammy had bad lower back pain and had to go to hospital which she was then sent home with antibiotics because they ruled out that she was in labour and said she had an infection. So she came home on New Year's afternoon in agony with her back still and decided to run a bath to relieve the pain, she felt like she needed the toilet so she went then she felt the urge to push and that's when baby Leo came out, My mother who is am actual hero Susan Cluff managed to get Leo out from the toilet and moved both Leo and Sammy into the bedroom where she managed to get Leo breathing after what felt like ages with the assistance of the emergency services on the phone the way that Leo was born was traumatic to say the least especially 11 weeks before his due date. It was obvious he wanted to make an entrance. The nurses in the SCBU and Leo's mother have been amazing and I couldn't wish for him to be in safer hands while he gets strong enough to come home to his family.

Anything unusual about the birth?Bonnie was born a tiny 2lb 9oz, seven weeks early via emergency c-section after pregnancy complications and numerous foetal med scans at Leeds General Infirmary. My waters broke at 29 weeks, I was then sent to James Cook Middlesbrough as York was full and had no beds for me or baby. Middlesbrough was the closest place that had a neonatal bed in special care. At this point Bonnie was only weighing 1lb 13oz. I was then sent home a week later thankfully, before going into labour four weeks after that and I was able to deliver her at York. I cannot thank SCBU York enough, they were incredible throughout the four weeks Bonnie stayed. Luckily, Bonnie didn’t need any help other than feeding and she is doing really well. She’s now 5 month and 10lb.

On the day, we arrived at York Hospital at 7.30am along with two other couples. After waiting until 1pm we were becoming anxious that we may be sent home as all planned sections usually take place in the morning. We were eventually told that the consultant that planned to do our section had ran out of time but they had found another doctor to come and do it. As our son was delivered the midwives asked our guesses on weight Leyton guessed 8 and half pounds I guessed 8lbs 4 and our little boy JJ was born at exactly 8lbs 4oz at 14:05pm. He was well worth our wait.

Anything unusual about the birth?Baby Archie was born with a unique story. After been advised that it would be very difficult or there would be a small chance of having children, we were shocked one day when Charlotte did a pregnancy test to find out on 3 separate tests they all said 2-3 weeks pregnant. Fast forward 48 hours later we headed to the hospital to find out Charlotte was 27 weeks pregnant and we were having a healthy little baby girl due on the 7th of November. Prior to this we did not have any idea or clues about the pregnancy so this came as a huge shock. Finding out so late we rushed around to prepare and then 1 day after finishing work for maternity leave, we ended up in York Hospital for us to leave with a healthy little baby BOY and not the girl that we was expecting. Baby Archie was born four weeks early. From the day we found out to the day he was born was a total of 9 weeks and this completely changed our lives in such a short space of time but we wouldn’t change it for the world.

I went from 3cm to 9cm in no time at all, and then by 03.10am on monday 29th March my little girl was in my arms! My labour was only 2 hours and 50 minutes. Not bad going for a first time mum!

Anything unusual about the birth?After an unplanned and very quick home birth with our now 2-year-old son, we opted for a (planned) water birth at home. After waking up at 1am with broken waters and mild contractions, we phoned York hospital to send the home birth team. We were told that, unfortunately, they had already been called out that evening and that we’d have to go in. We were disappointed as staying at home and hypnobirthing were the only concrete birth plans we had, but we started to get ready to head to hospital. Contractions quickly got closer together and before we could leave the house, we had to call triage to tell them I felt the need to push and that we wouldn’t make it in. They told us that we’d have to phone an ambulance to bring us in, but by the time they’d arrived, she was already well on her way! Molly was born at just gone 5am at home, like we’d wanted, just on the kitchen floor rather than the birth pool!
